VOZ AW16 is inspired by the Mapuche Machi, or priestess. She is the anchor of leadership, healing, and mysticism for the Mapuche community. In the Mapuche weaving heritage, black is the color of royalty and red that of blood, and both are core to this collection. VOZ weavers bring their ancient wisdom from their Mapuche cosmology to each hand-loomed design. Timeless symbols such as the Abrazo Infinito (Infinite Embrace) and Estrella (star) rendered in silky merino and alpaca textiles embody the identity and power of each woman who crafts them. VOZ provides ethical wages and educational programs to indigenous women in Chile.
